2 Person Flip Over Ice Shelter

Portable ice shelters are quite famous among anglers. They do their job correctly and you can reuse them for a long time. But often anglers ask me to suggest flip over ice shelter.

For them today I bring you exactly what you wanted.

Best 2 Person Flip Over Ice Shelter:

1. Clam Outdoors Jason Mitchell Thermal X

This portable ice shelter is one of the best that we have tested. This ice shelter got Great sled and the Editor’s Choice for 2019-2020. This shelter has more than enough space for 2 people. The 1 1/4″ poles make it tough to bend. This should be the selling point for a lot of people.

If you are fishing in a particular area with too much wind. Then you need a reliable and well-built shelter. This ticks all the boxes. It's virtually indestructible. Unless you intentionally hammer it that's a different topic.

The tarp of this shelter is one of the thickest that we encountered. The tarp works well to keep the heat inside and stops from cold getting through. They also help you breathe by reducing the amount of condensation.

The tent comes with built-in lighting and 2 doors. One to the front and one towards the back. The only thing holding it back from being everyone's first priority is the price and the stock availability.

Pros

  • Excellent build quality.
  • Thick tarp.
  • Built-in lights.
  • 2 doors.
  • For 2 people.

Cons

  • Price is high.

2. Otter Outdoors Pro Lodge X-Over Ice Fishing House:

If you are looking for a sleek sled house then this is the perfect choice for you. This was the winner of the 2018-19 editor's choice award. The slide door feature on this house is just amazing.

Gives you a premium feel and makes you feel like you are not living inside a tent. Another feature that I liked the most about this tent is, you can move the support pole out of your way and go out with ease. The whole shelter won't drop on your head.

You don't need to worry about kicking anything around the tent. The whole setup takes less than 10 minutes. You can also take it down fast. This way you don't need to worry about leaving anything behind. Unlike round poles, the large square poles can take much more abuse.

If you are fishing in a place with harsh weather then this will be the best ice shelter for you without any doubts. The included seats are comfortable to sit on. The tarp is thick.

But the tent doesn't come with any heating elements. But the thick tarp does hold all the heat inside the tent. So, if you keep the heater running for a while you can sleep the rest of the night with the heater turned off.

Pros

  • Best sled on the market.
  • Large square frames.
  • Super thick canvas and tarp.

Cons

  • Price.
  • Heavy.

3. Frabill Recruit Insulated Flip-Over Ice House

For budget campers, this is for you. It is a lower level ice shelter yet it has an insulated tarp. Usually, lower-end ice shelters tend to have non-insulated tarps. As they are cheaper.

They also tend to have a flimsy shell that moves with the slightest of wind. But thankfully that is not the case here. It's mainly designed for 1 person but the inside space is plenty for two people to stay.

There is only one front door and the included seats are okay. They are nothing to write home about but they work more than fine.

There is no wow factor to this compared to the previous two that I shared above. Honestly, for the price, you shouldn't even compare it with other tents let alone high-end ones.

Pros

  • Lightweight.
  • Affordable.
  • Plenty of room for 2 people.
  • Insulated tarp.

Cons

  • No slide doors.
  • Only single doors and no windows.

Buying a portable ice shelter is quite an important task. That's why you need to make sure you are getting the absolute best. We hope that this post helped you. Let us know if you end up buying any of the mentioned ice shelters on the review.
