There are so many ways available to reduce humidity, but all the ideas are not suitable for all. That is why we present some flexible and easy ways to reduce indoor moisture so that everybody can apply these methods.
How You Check the Humid Level If it is High?
The best solution is to have a hygrometer. A hygrometer is a device which can calculate the amount of vapor in the air. It shows the percentage of moisture in the air and you know the average level always belongs below 30%. You feel comfortable and don’t realise significant difficulty, up to 40%. But when it crosses 40%, then you have to take steps to reduce humidity.
On the other hand, you may feel sweating on the back when humidity increases. Most of the cases you can see mold growth, can smell a bad odor, and frequently feel the dampness somewhere in your house. You may also develop allergic reactions because of excessive mold growth. These conditions always tell you about higher humidity level.
How to Reduce Humidity Indoor
Finding the easiest, comfortable, and highly functional method to reduce humidity is a very important thing. Read the following techniques and decide which are perfect and better for you.
1. Use Air Conditioner
Use an air conditioner to keep optimum humidity in your house is a great idea. This method works so well. But you always check the filter whether it is working or not! On the other hand, make sure the air conditioner is working correctly, that’s enough.
2. Install Exhaust Fan
To maintain optimum humidity, it is essential to ensure proper ventilation. And you have to think, does the warm air can go outside? In this purpose, an exhaust fan can be an excellent idea. It helps to remove the humid air from inside the house, at the same time it allows cool air into the room, which gives relief from the higher humidity.
3. Open the Window
This option is best for you if you think you don’t want to buy an exhaust fan. You have to give the space of the warm air to pass through. If you open the windows, heats can smoothly go outside of the kitchen or bathroom. You know these two areas remain hotter than the other spaces.
4. Set up Dehumidifier
The dehumidifier is the best and highly functioning device which can regulate the humidity level in your home. Don’t mix it with the air conditioner. The fundamental difference is it removes moisture from the air, unlike air conditioner which cools down the air. You are advised to get a dehumidifier when the humidity level crosses 50%.
5. Grow Humidity Absorbing Plants
Some of the plants can absorb humidity when it crosses the normal range. You can grow those plants in your house. For example, Boston ferns actively remove moisture from the air, which helps to reduce humidity. On the other hand, it is also suitable for your environment because you can get more oxygen by reducing the carbon dioxide level.
6. Move Other Plants
All the plants don’t absorb humidity. On the other hand, if you have many indoor plants in your home, they can also be responsible for risen humidity as plant releases moisture. That is why, you should move the indoor plants outside the house during higher humidity period for temporary. It also helps to reduce humidity.
7. Avoid Boiling of Water on Humid Days
Water turns into steam while you are boiling water and the steam will be absorbed by your indoor air. Ultimately your humidity level increases. You are trying to reduce your indoor humidity, so why do such a thing which increases humidity? That’s why don’t boil water, especially on those days.
8. Turn Off the Vaporizer or Humidifier
You see, a dehumidifier is recommended for reducing the humidity. The function of a humidifier is opposite of the dehumidifier. That means a vaporizer or humidifier increases the humidity in your home, so turn it off.
We have talked about many methods above. You can apply any single or multiple methods at a time. If you notice that no other techniques (Except dehumidifier) are working, then you have to think you’ve developed severe humidity issues. In this condition, you must need to get a dehumidifier. Don’t think; it will work well.
